The awards cover a range of fields including excellence in the arts, education, citizenship, and community relations

Dr Hany El Banna, President of Islamic Relief, was presented with the Muslim News “Ibn Khaldun Award” for excellence in promoting understanding between global cultures and faiths.

The award was presented at the fourth annual Muslim News Awards ceremony held in London on the 31st March 2004, before an audience of five hundred.

Dr Hany received the Ibn Khaldun Award in honour of his efforts over the years in encouraging greater understanding and better relations between different faiths and communities.

Now in their fourth year, the Muslim News Awards for Excellence honour Muslims and non-Muslims across the spectrum of public life. The awards cover a range of fields including excellence in the arts, education, citizenship, and community relations.

Islamic Relief was also pleased to sponsor the Imam Hasan and Husayn children’s award for excellence this year, which was awarded to 14-year-old Akhlima Khanum. Akhlima has been looking after her four younger siblings from an early age as both her parents suffer from mental illness.
