Islamic Relief was honoured to receive an award of merit from the Arab Republic of Egypt for dedicated work in humanitarian relief. The prestigious award was presented on the 24th March 2002 at an event supported by Mohammed Hosni Mubarak, the President of Egypt.
The award ceremony was held to celebrate the 24th anniversary of Egyptian Medical Doctors Day, and honoured distinguished Egyptian figures who have dedicated their life's work to medical, political, religious, and social activities. Among those honoured were Ministers, Professors, University Chancellors, and heads of distinguished organisations.
Islamic Relief is the only non-Egyptian international organisation that was honoured with an award.
