Three weeks since the onset of the floods in Sri Lanka, Islamic Relief is still supporting survivors
Three weeks since the onset of the floods in Sri Lanka, Islamic Relief has distributed 3,401 survival packs to families in the country's Eastern province.
Providing these families with essential hygiene items to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases, so far thousands of people have received: mosquito nets, bedsheets, sleeping mats, warm clothes and durable cups and dishes. So far, Islamic Relief has received funding from the Consortium of British Humanitarian Agencies (CBHA) and IR fundraising partners.
The heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding affected about one million people and forced 300,000 people to leave their homes.
