Islamic Relief Worldwide has expressed its concern over the loss of life and humanitarian impact of the escalating violence in Libya.
It extremely difficult to assess the full humanitarian impact of the violence. Media access to Libya is restricted and few international NGOs currently work in the country.
Nonetheless, it is thought that the estimated figures of people killed or injured in the clashes are likely to be much higher than previously thought. Islamic Relief has been monitoring the situation closely and has deployed a team to the border between Libya and Egypt to provide humanitarian assistance.
The humanitarian agency, which has been working in neighbouring Egypt for over 10 years, will provide emergency shelter and food packs for people fleeing the violence, and medical aid to the injured.
Islamic Relief is a neutral organisation that has provided humanitarian assistance to people in need, for more than 26 years.
