Nihada Avdic is thirteen and lives in Sarajevo, Bosnia, with her mother Fetaneta. Fetaneta is unable to find work. Prior to IR sponsorship the pair lived on only a small widow’s pension and Nihada’s child allowance. Everyday was a struggle.
Before the conflict Nihada and her family had a large house in Srebrenica, but the pair lost not only their home, but Nihada’s father during the fighting. They moved around for over ten years before Fetaneta took a loan and bought the small flat in which the pair now live.
