Ravaged by three years of conflict, Bosnia Herzegovina is one of the poorest countries in Europe. Around 20 percent of the population live below the poverty line and another 30 percent are estimated to live just above it.
Unemployment is rife and large numbers of people are still displaced within the country. Many schools, hospitals and other vital infrastructure have still not been rebuilt. IR offers the people of Bosnia Herzegovina a second chance with projects like:
Microfinance
The micro credit business loans project provides loans allowing people to initiate or expand business ventures and repair homes made uninhabitable during the war.
Orphan Sponsorship Programme
The one to one orphan sponsorship programme provides orphans with regular payments which help with day to day costs such as food, health care and education. Sponsored orphans are also offered emotional support and are monitored to ensure school attendance.
